Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad delivers live address from London

The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, concluded the 92nd Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Bangladesh on 7 February 2016 with a faith-inspiring and emotional address.

His Holiness addressed the concluding session via satellite link from the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London.

5,800 people attended the 3-day Jalsa in Bangladesh, whilst more than 3,700 gathered in London for the concluding session.

During his address, His Holiness spoke of the objectives of the Jalsa Salana as prescribed by the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him).

Further, His Holiness spoke of mankind’s responsibilities towards God Almighty and towards one another.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“In short, the key objective of the Jalsa Salana, as prescribed by the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him), is to establish a positive spiritual change within the participants, whereby they are drawn closer to their Creator.”

Highlighting the purpose of the advent of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him), Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“The purpose of the advent of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) was not merely to prove that Jesus (peace be upon him) had died and that no one would descend from the heavens. Rather, his purpose was far greater - to create a community of people who held an understanding of the unity of God, who would follow the true and peaceful example of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and who would fulfil the rights due to Allah and towards His creation.”

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad continued:
“The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) came to establish the true status of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the world. He came to tell the world that the only way to truly understand the Unity of God and to establish a bond with Him was through the blessed personage of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).”

Speaking about the need for Ahmadi Muslims to earnestly follow the teachings of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him), Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“The participants of the Jalsa Salana, and indeed all Ahmadi Muslims, should make a pledge to live by the teachings of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and to embody the objectives with which he was sent to this world. Unless we ourselves come to personify the true teachings of Islam we can never be successful in spreading Islam’s peaceful teachings.”

His Holiness spoke of the false doctrine held by the majority of Muslims that Jesus (peace be upon him) was still alive. This belief, His Holiness said, was absolutely wrong and against the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad quoted the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) speaking about this topic, who said:
“When Muslims claim, in contradiction to the teachings of the Holy Quran, that Jesus is alive and sitting in heaven, the Christian clergy are offered an opportunity to raise false allegations against the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). They immediately say that, ‘Whereas your prophet has died and is of this earth, Jesus (peace be on him) is alive and is heavenly.’… By holding this doctrine [that Jesus is still alive] do the Muslims not defame the grandeur and seal of the one who is the best of prophets and is the Seal of the Prophets?”

Later in his address, His Holiness said that the Holy Quran had established the human rights of all people within society and had laid the foundation for peace and harmony between the people of all religions and beliefs. However, His Holiness expressed his opinion that certain Muslims and Islamic nations had moved far away from such noble teachings.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“It is of great regret that the peaceful teachings of Islam have been forgotten by much of the Muslim world and this is the reason why there is so much disorder within Islamic countries. The citizens and governments are fighting one another and each party is seeking to harm the other. Governments make unjust demands from their people and the people make unjust demands from their governments.”

His Holiness said that it was the responsibility of Ahmadi Muslims across the world to spread the true teachings of Islam and to strive for peace at all levels of society.

The Jalsa Salana concluded with a silent prayer led by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad in which he asked Ahmadi Muslims to pray that mankind came to recognise its Creator and the need to fulfil the rights of one another. @AhmadiyyatIslam
