The role of region in engendering patriotism will be theme for deliberations when members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ghana converge at Baghe-Ahmad, Pomadze, near Winneba, for their 85th Annual National Convention from Thursday, 12th to 14th January, 2017.

The Convention will examine how religion, as a body of guidance from God man's moral and spiritual development, instills in citizens their love for their respective countries and avoid split loyalties between religion and the State.

This is contained in a press release from the Mission signed by the Head of the Publicity Sub-Committee of the Convention, Mr. Mohammed Affum, which stated that Ahmadi Muslims from all parts of the country will attend, in addition to delegates from Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and La Cote D'Ivoire.

Topics slated for discussion include “Hijab – Symbol of Dignity and Morality”, “Winning Hearts for Allah – The Duty of Ahmadi Muslims” and “Obedience to Khilafat – Pathway to Progress”.

The annual national convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim communities worldwide, was instituted by its Holy Founder, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi in 1892.

He stated that “the primary purpose of this convention is to enable every sincere individual to personally experience religious benefits; They may enhance their knowledge and due to their being blessed and enable by Allah, The Exalted – their perception of Allah may progress”.

Among its secondary benefits, the Promised Messiah listed the promotion of mutual introduction among all brothers and the strengthening of fraternal ties within the community.

According to Hazrat Ahmadi it is “essential for all those who can afford to undertake the journey, that they must attend this Convention which embodies many blessed objectives. They should disregard minor inconvenience in the cause of Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him)”.

He said Allah yielded reward to sincere persons at every step of their way, and no labour and hardship, undertaken in His way, ever went to waste.

“I re-emphasize that you must not rank this Convention in the same league as other, ordinary, human assemblies. This is a phenomenon that is based purely on the Divine Help, for propagation of Islam”, he added.
